The Human Voice
paintings and installations — Museum “Whaler’s House”, Kaliningrad

About the exhibition
“The Human Voice”: an exhibition of paintings and installations.
A theatre play reimagined as visual art.
The exhibition brought together works in the Abstract Expressionism and Symbolism genres, along with installations that recreate the dramatic atmosphere of “The Human Voice”, the play by the French writer Jean Cocteau.
My first exhibition in this genre, and an unusual one for that reason: a fusion of visual and performance art, an immersion in the world of the play through paintings, installations, performance, light and sound. It invites you into the imagery of a stage, full of vivid symbolic details.
Another feature of the exhibition: the installations and paintings had no titles. The aim of this “experiment” was to let visitors follow their own associations, imagination, memories and feelings…
The opening and meeting with guests took place on 5 July, Jean Cocteau’s birthday.
The exhibition was held at the exhibition centre of the Whaler’s House Museum, 5–6 July 2023.
